Hi there,
I had recently returned home to Singapore after being in the US and had shipped my venerable SP1.7 home. However, the packer that shipped my item didn't provide a good enough packing and something strange has happened.
All the front panel buttons seemed to have jammed and I cannot switched between sources and other function buttons. The DVD LED is permanently on which I assumed that the SP1.7 is stuck in DVD input.
The LCD display shows only the start-up screen with this message:
DSP Okay. v1.04x
OS SP1.7 v43E
It seems to be a rather old firmware.
As this is a North American set, it is running 120v. I have it connected to my PS Audio P300 power outputting at 120v/60Hz as Singapore electricity is running at 230v/50Hz. Could the P300 be creating this problem?
I no longer have the original remote as I had misplaced it

I couldn't afford the USD$500 replacement! Really miss the aluminium brick!

That's why I couldn't test if the IR sensor is working so that I can ignore the buttons. I had programmed an MX810 with all the SP1.7 remote codes but that doesn't seem to be working. But I am not sure if it is because I had programme the codes in differently or if it is the SP1.7 that is DOA after making the trans-Pacific trip. It was working before.
Could someone advise me as to whether is this a software issue or is this a hardware (as in buttons/logic board etc) problem?
If James is around, can you advise me on what are the steps to take given the fact that I am no longer in North America and no longer have the original receipts if this problem can be covered under warranty.
Would your Singapore agent AFA have trained technicians to fix the set or will my poor SP1.7 have to make another arduous journey back to North America?
The next question is whether is it worth fixing this or should I go with the upgrade to SP2 if I have to send the set back.
Kind of frustrated as I was so looking forward to setting up my old HT here in Singapore. Any help would be much appreciated! Sorry for the long rambling post as I wasn't sure what kind of information to give.
