Me too,,,,,  :o

  I take it you heard what they rest of us have been describing for a while now, eh Robin?

FWIW, you fellas may have trouble finding what you need on the used market.  If that proves true, the good news is that John Cook is an exceptional gentleman and a genuine pleasure to do business with, and I'm sure he'd appreciate the $$$ he'd see if you were to spring for new PCs.

Regardless, good luck to you both!  :thumb:

Jim, I'm presently auditioning Lonewolf's 2 Black Sands Silver Reference Mk.II PC's with my 2 Butler amps and I'm simply blown away. Pretty much the same way I was blown away when I replaced the stock power cords with VH Flavor 4 PC's, which are damn good in their own right. There's a few other silver power cords i want to try first but if something used doesn't show up and I don't find anything else that's better for a reasonable price, I may just take you up on your suggestion and give John a call. I just found out today from talking to him that he's a straightup guy who doesn't BS, even if it costs him a sale. That in of itself tells me standup guy = outstanding cables.  :thumb:

As good as the Silver Reference power cords are, the Statement One power cords take it too another level!!

Don't audition them unless you are ready and willing to buy them...I know I couldn't let them leave my system.

IF your system is highly refined and accurate enough to notice the difference between the two power cords. Mine is not and I don't want it to be,,, all tho I do like to audition those of you guys that have these types of systems.  :thumb: This info came from John Cook himself when I was asking him about the differences between these 2 power cords. John's words:
Quote
The cords sound very close but the
Statement One has the advantage in detail. In systems that are fairly
accurate this is a bonus. In systems that are on the warm side to begin
with, this in all honesty isn’t a big deal.

This is what I mean about a standup guy,,,, seeing how there's a $300 difference between the two cords. But I have no doubt George that in your system, the differences shine thru.  :thumb:

Well John did mention to me to let the NY RAVE guys know he said hi when I show up next saturday,,, this forum is even better to do that!  :thumb:  I'd bet John would entertain a "group buy" if there was enough interest in one. I could possibly do 3 Silver References Mk.V if the price was right,,,,, (hint-hint, you reading this John?)  :icon_lol:

I have a custom length BS cable which John made for me last year for RMAF, as we needed 4 and a long cable to supply Dodd's power supply from the other side of the room.
Best thing John will make the length you want.

And worth every penny.

I currently own four of the Black Sand Silver PCs and would be interested in purchasing another if John were to run a group buy.

It's amazing how a WTB ad has developed into this thread  :D

George,
Can you fill us in on where you are using the Statement One PCs in your system? Thanks.

And yes, count me in on a group buy for the Silver Ref Mk Vs as well.

Bought a few Marinco hospital grade wall and iec plugs.Same as Wattgates but without the gold plating.Raw 14 guage 0r 12 guage triple with sheild  ,maby teflon or something.Cant afford ready made fancy pantzee snake oil stuff that makes me scepticle enough to keep it in my wallet.Ive heard of all kinds of stupid stuff M-pingo disks and tiny budda bowls things, fancy insulators that turned out to be a piece of lead,Totem beaks aluminum cones. No sound differance, so even a power cord?So I got suckered into buying into it this much. But frankly if ones got to try it, dont smoke yer wallet away ,it should be cheap to do it.Save up for what really counts like components for instance?

Which are the cords that Steve Hoffman "endorsed" on his website at one time or another.. are they these Black Sands?

Actually I think they're Kubala-Sosna Emotion cables,,, Steve has them exclusively in his Master Room Playback system and scattered within his other 2 systems. http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=123622  :thumb:

"Kubala-Sosna Emotion cables"?

hmm.. those don't ring a bell at all. I thought for sure I'd recognize the name once I heard/read it. Maybe I was thinking of Grover, but I get the impression they only make speaker wire and interconnects. Could've sworn it was another company he gave the "value" nod to when it comes to power cords. One for the budget-minded (without checking, I'm assuming Emotion cables aren't in the budget category).

Nuballa-Sosna cables are American made and even tho they do make affordable cables, the Emotion line isn't one of them. It's their top of the line cable and they're pricey but then again they compete with other top of the line cable that go for much more $$$$$. The only reason I knew this is because I've been doing research yesterday in advance of demo'ing the Emotion power cord. It was thru google that I came up with Steve Hoffman's systems. If this guy is using these cables in his Master Playback System,,,, well that speaks for itself.  :notworthy: I look foreward to my audition.  :D

Robin

Thanks. I tried doing a search over there but either I'm a poor searcher, or, that site software doesn't lend itself to highly defined searches. Sifting through thirty pages of search results is not my idea of a good time.

my apologies to the threadstarter for this topical diversion. I'll shut up now.
