i do not wish to start any problems but i am sensing a few people have nothing better to do then cut down a person, says alot.
my first company:Odyssey Audio,product
1. FIRST IMPRESSION:the first one i bought was a used HT-3,as soon as i got it i was in "awh",big black and heavy, seemed to have lots of visual quality, hooked it up to a pair of Paradigm studio 40 and cc470,the center shut down, about 5 times to be exact.Klaus walked me through every moment,Great guy,but it will need a board......he was so good i bought a used set of Mono Extremes SE and an set of blue boards(new),these are some of the best amps i ever heard at the time and for Home Theater they will rock your world.....they are a full bang for the buck amp.i have never listened to any of their pre or speakers,i also think their amps make alot of 2ch people very happy.....all good
on the downside ,like any american product,us Canadians have to cross the boarder, and at $80 a pop it adds up for shipping ,so you wouldn't want a lemon.
i think the USA has a great company for americans.
2. my next move was a Bryston 14bsst,well this amp will compliment a good set of speakers, and also break them,in two.I put a set of Paradigm studio40 and 60 to get a 4ohm load on this amp and sold the speakers soon after, this amp would destroy these speakers if in the wrong hands, clear and clean right to the top.
3.well now i need speakers,so i got some PMC IB1's in black ash,let me just say these will push the 14bsst to the redline and you don't even know it,great sound and build, these are keepers for sure.i like high SPL and these are perfect for that.
i have not had any problems whatsoever with these products.
on the downside,as soon as i got the PMC's,Bryston and PMC split and this broke my heart, but we will move on.
3.Anthem AVM30 and D1 and Audio Research reference2 MK2,all were used in 2ch only, and all sounded great, each one a little better than the next, from 0-half volume, they all sound great but once you hit the 100-115db area i personally liked the D-1 because i like my tone controls,i will never again have a straight pre unless i have tone control, lesson learned, thats just me.if you get a good deal on a AVM 30,buy it,they are almost as good as a d-1,and i think the AR's are good, but $10,000,NO WAY!!!!!that is my opinion
Now ,along my path i have met some great guys,James Tanner-Bryston
BILL McCulloch audio in Winnipeg, well actually new him for a long time
Tim Munro at Sight and Sound in London Ontario
i have also ran into some crooked pricks, you know who you are and i will never and i mean NEVER recommend you or your business to anyone, and i don't plan on leaving the audio world.i think people should know that there are some out there and if anyone ever thinks that they are being had and are wondering if i had any kind of past accuantence,PM me ,tell me your situation and i will give you my opinion.i will not on the circle say so,so dont ask!!!
thanks for now
John
