Recently while listening to my system in another room (system is in my living room and my office is in my bedroom) I became acutely aware of something I have known for years.
BASS in another room is D-E-E-P-E-R

Now of course part of this phenomena is that you do not get the balanced amount of full frequencies, but the other is that Bass seems to like to propagate over distance.
So again I am starting to experiment a bit.
I have 4 subs arranged in 2 pair, with the front pair being in phase and in an ITU semi-circle with the front mains, and the rear pair "right behind" my listening chair firing away from me and toward the rear wall.
I crossover at 30Hz (lowest setting on my NHT X-2) and run my RM40's -3db @24Hz) full range.
So as an experiment, I took about 40' of good 12g wire and move one of my subs out of the main room, down the hall, almost to my daughter's (who is away at school) room. This is likely 20' plus feet away.
I switched the NHT to play "mono" bass below 30Hz and sat down to listen.
I have to say, there is a lot more "depth" to the bass, and and overwhelming sense of being "engulfed" by bass energy.

It seemed to initially offer a much more realistic presentation.

Of course I have "lots" of playing around to do, but overall it is a very interesting tweak.
Has anyone else tried anything like this?
