D•500 MKII at RMAF

I just finished the D•500's and will take them in my suitcase to RMAF. We will be running them with the new Von Schweikert VR-4 Signatures in Room 502...stop by for a listen!

I just got back from RMAF and want to thank all the circle folks who came by...it was nice to meet so many of you!

The response to the new D•500 MKII and VDC•SB was overwhelming. I guess I took my vacation at the right time as it looks like we'll be buried in work for a while.

For those of you who had emailed or left phone messages...please be patient and we'll get back to you before the weeks end.

Looks like the D-500's are in a new chassis? Similar to the PLC-1's chassis but (obviously) larger.

Yes, the D•500 requires a much larger chassis to accommodate the large toroid and extra power supply circuitry. The amp uses a matching chassis to PLC•1 (same 8.5" width and style), but 4" tall. Rather than having a heatsink plate on the rear, the 500 uses the entire chassis as its heatsink.

I read somewhere that the D*500s run much hotter than the D*200s. Is that correct?

Nooo...D•500 actually runs cooler than D•200 (and D•100 also).

Yes, D•500 MKII is $4500/pair and will be available in 6-8 weeks.

So how do the D•500 sound?

Same as the D•200 but more power?
Or do they have their own differences/refinements in the sound quality?
