Finish options

Sorry if this has already been answered, I did a quick search and didn't find an answer.

I'm getting set to start upgrading my speakers to VMPS (LRC and either RM-2s or 626Rs) and am a little tripped up w/ respect to finish options.

I like the look of full-wrap piano black, but am concerned that I'll get distracting relections from my rear-projection TV, which is located about 1-2 feet behind all 3 speakers. I usually watch w/ the lights out in a pretty dark room, so reflections could be a serious problem.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

If piano black does create bad reflections, I think my second choice would be either full-wrap light oak or full-wrap cherry. Does anyone have any photos of LRC/RM-2/626R w/ either of these finishes?

All I've seen so far are the swatches on vmpseurpoe.com

thanks,
Jon

Thanks, I guess trolling around the Gallery is probably my best bet.

Another question, is the "cherry flambe" the same finish as the cherry mentioned on VMPSeurope.com?

"Cherry flambe'" or stained cherry is the color we have in stock.

"Cherries jubilee", also very nice, is best served with warmed brandy, flaming.

I have pics of my clear-lacquered, black walnut full wrap RM-40's in the gallery (like below).  They fit in nice with the "old world" decor of my house.  Dark wood never goes out of style.

The cherry is pretty but too red for my taste.  It can probably be stained to taste, as can rosewood.  Oak wins for cost effectiveness but its color and grain leave a lot to be desired from an aesthetic standpoint.

If you like lighter wood, birds eye maple is very beautiful.  My Lexus has it for interior trim.  May want to check with Big B to see if it is available and how much it will set you back (probably a lot).

Hi Andrikos,

I'll PM you the pricing on that exact speaker.

It has the FST tweeter and the Cherry Flambe "full wrap" option.

Deluxe Finishes for the RM-40
Just noticed that the link to the "deluxe finishes" from the vmpseurope.com site appears to be broken (missing) - as of last week it was present.  Does this mean that the custom finishes for the RM-40 are no longer available?  I have heard from WOM that a new company performing the RM-40 cabinet-making duties now.  Just what finishes are presently available for the RM-40?  Which are not?

John,

Here's a picture of a cherry flambe LRC - also notice in the second picture you can see the LRC next to a piano black VMPS Larger Subwoofer, to help guage the gloss of the finish.

Hey B,

What are the important differences between the 'piano black' and the 'black lacquer' finishes?

From what I've seen, and Brian, please correct me if I'm wrong, the piano black that I've seen have been black high pressure laminate (Formica)with painted/finished corners.  While the black lacquer on the RM/x are true sprayed lacquer with several top coats.   The black lacquer look of the RM/x is traditionally called piano black.

The gallery has lots of pictures of 626r's and RM40's,
but not much in the way of RM2's.

How about some high res pictures of RM2's with various finish options?
It would be cool to get to see them sporting a variety of looks.  :)
