The switched power supply is on the ledt hand side of the amps on this picture http://www.norh.com/news-0903/leamp2inside2.jpg and it is the bended board on this picture http://www.norh.com/news-0903/leamp2inside.jpg The construction requires certain wiring. The heatsinks are standard material. The switched power supply reduces weight, and may reduce shipping costs. It may not create confidence, if his vendor ran out of money twice. Costs out of control. From their web site: 800 V/A Switching adjusted to 500 V/A supporting 800 V/A peaks. The LeAmp II is starting to look less and less appealing. Perhaps its time to give Klaus a call!
The issue is not as much the actual wattage (excuse me Wattage-or did the story about the delay change again? ) but the fact that MB makes the rules as he goes. At this point, LA II does not exist and MB has lied. I thought he already had a batch out. Does that batch have the 800 VA PS or the 500 VA PS ( a rhtetorical question since we all know there was no first batch ).
These LE2's are a make or break item for nOrh. Many of the diehard nOrh supporters are feeling a bit left out in the cold and concerned with the delays. If these things don't blow people away, there could be dark clouds on the nOrh horizon. If they perform well, and nOrh is able to supply them, they are a real bargain. I'm not in the amp market, but I don't know of any other amps in this price range that look this good on paper...unfortunately, lots of things look good on paper and don't make it in the real world. Only time will tell...
