the best preamp for the amplifiers nuforce

What is the best association you have heard with the nuforce?

Have someone tried the Nagra PL-L ?

If you like the Nuforce sound (speed and dynamics) then their own preamps would be best suited for them. If you are looking for some more emotion then I would recommend a tube pre.

P8 is very good with NuForce amps. I have Ref 9 SE connected, planning to upgrade to V2 and P9 though. I agree with the previous statement about emotion and tubes. That is why I have a Musical Fidelity X10V3 tube buffer between my Rega Saturn and P8. It just provides that little bit of extra that the pure sound lacks. Of course, using these 'tweaks' is very personal, depending on one's own taste

Someone has told me that there some electricals compatibility to think about when you want to make a good match between nuforce and a preamp : what are they?

i replied to your post on audiogon on this samuel33 dont know what your friends problem with nuforce preamps was. here is a little more info of my experience. i used a p-8 with my ref 9s a few years ago that was a fine combo, i then upgraded my ref 9s to se last year and used p-8 with them. i wondered what a tubed pre would do for my system and bought a marsh p2000t tubed preamp, i also did some tube rolling and i liked the marsh better than the p-8. taking in account that both are mid priced preamps i enjoyed the tubed sound better than p-8. then nuforce came out with p-9 and offered a sweet full retail offer to trade p-8 to p-9, i went for it and glad i did, p-9 is in a different class than both p-8 and marsh. a great match for my ref 9 se amps. i think nuforce is offering a in home audition for a dollar. sounds like a good time for a audition. i have read here that p-9 may have matching problems with speakers that are easy to drive due to the steps in the volume control, though nuforce my have addressed that mismatch, good luck on your choice,

have you listened the 9Se V2 + p9 combo? is my actual setup and sound GREAT..i've tried with ARC pre, Tact Pre , Accuphase pre and some DIY.....IMHO the P9 is very big deal for the price..

I have very very good experience with passive TVC (transformer volume control) preamps connected to my Ref 9s. I personally use Promitheus TVC, which is an audio bargain with fantastic sound qualities. If you want something more expensive and up-class, like Bent or Music First.

Sorry, no experience with Nagra. I really like the way the BAT VK-31SE synergizes with the Nuforce 9SE's.

I have just heard the best preamp of all that i have experienced before : the shindo Vosne Romanee.

I have compared it face to face with the VTL 7.5 : the Vtl isn't even close!

I haven't heard with nuforce amp -too bad i know- but since there are great feedback from whose have used nuforce with tube preamp (moodwright for eg.) i'm quite sure that it can be a terrific combo

Shindo Aurieges is an amazing bargain & makes the half dozen top-end passives I've had sound broken on Ref9SE

From my limited experience, passives need a very powerful amplifier to realise their full potential! It also depends on what passive preamp you are using! I have used a Bent Audio TAP with digital amplifiers (CIAudio D*200s) and while they did sound quite good, the potential unleashed only came when I matched the passive with a much more powerful amplifier. Before that, the usual expressions that passives sounded thin, bass-shy and dry were true but after I replaced the amplification, I have had no issues with any of these criticisms. I have also tried tube preamps (but not the Shindos) but these did not work out for me.

Maybe I shouldn't give my opinion given that I have not heard the passives that you are talking about but I don't think that they would work well with the Nuforces. I think you need a tube preamp that is going to add some body and emotion to the sound. You would lose a little speed but it comes down to personal preferences I guess. I mean if you are going to go the passive route you might as well go with the P8.

I heard the NuForce (can't be positive if it was 9's or not) with Dan Wright's new pre at a friends house and it sounded pretty darn good, best I've ever heard NuForce sound.

Another choice : preamp Ayre K5XE ... I have been told it is a wonderfull match with Ref 9SE, even better than P9.

I'm now using a Promitheus balanced in to 9v2 SE. I've found it better with a Cambridge 840c than using a the 840c as a drive in to Tag Mclaren AV32r BP192 as a DAC/Preamp and then in to Nuforce. Much cheaper too.

For something different, consider a Bel Canto DAC3 as DAC + preamp, feeding directly a NuForce amp. This is what I have, and no one would accuse the combo of being anything less than top-flight in terms of transparency and neutrality. Of course, there are those who will accuse it of being "too" transparent, dry, analytical, what have you. It does ride the edge pretty close, but IMHO it is supremely listenable. So far it's the closest I've gotten to my goal of neutrality while still being musical.
