Hugh,

Really tempted by the GK-1 pre, can you answer a few questions please?

1. will it work fine into a naim 250 power amp?

2. for a moving coil set up what spec pre would you recommend? how to connect?

3. Is there a remote control option?

4. how does the gk-1 compare to the swift?

cheers from Wales,

Regards,
                  Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your post, great to hear from Wales!

Answers in your order:

1. will it work fine into a naim 250 power amp?

Output impedance is around 140R, minimum amp input impedance is 10K.  In short, YES!!

I do not know the market that well, and these recommendations are tricky.  Try to use a SS MC head amp, they are generally quieter than tube, email me privately on this one!

The MC head amp would plug in to the phono input on the GK1, which has a sensitivity of 5mV and carries full EQ.

3. Is there a remote control option?

No, only a switching option.  Only the Swift has remote control.

4. how does the gk-1 compare to the swift?

Same analog circuit, identical performance, some component changes, nothing more.

I trust you were not flooded out?

Hope this helps, thanks again for the post,

Cheers,

3. Is there a remote control option?

Hee hee I really should get my arse in gear and put the last GK1-R sold in a case of some sort.

Still I'm using the excuse of the purchase of a dedicated listening environment (flat) to convince myself i dont care.

I hate the mechanical side of this hobby.

3 years - and no case on my GK-1...
