I don't know if this has been posted here either, but Wow  :thumb: I'm glad you posted the link.

I had to call my wife over to check it out.  She was waiting for a blunder performance, but instead got goose-bumps.

That upset me, as goose-bumps from music should only come from listening to my system, not from computer speakers  :P

Be sure to watch his next performance, I think it's the semi-final one. Also a killer.

Yeah, that is phenomenal.  It's an interesting buildup, too, as he does not look the part of an opera singer (or any other singer, for that matter).

Wow.  What song is that?  I'd like to get it done to similar performance on recording.

Wow! :o  Amazing!  And while Nessun Dorma from Turandot is probably one of my all time favorite arias, I honestly don't recall ever hearing it done more convincingly.  None shall sleep! Again, simply amazing.

I watched that clip like 3 times already! :thumb:  Absolutely brilliant!  I wonder if he can act at all?  I'd love to see him play Calaf, and I'd absolutely buy it on DVD. Vincerò! Vincerò! 8)

well I am definitly not an opera fan at this time but that guy can emote is a gross understatement, I watched people chests raise sucking in air left and right to fight back tears because they were so moved by it.  I was quite moved and its not even my thing, incredibly powerful.  So someday I may just have to try a little Opera and get out of my box. :D

I generally do not like the show but this guy may never have surfaced without it, so Beauty breaks thru even in a consumer culture, that is often times emotionally dead.
So Bravo I have to go scald my inner cynic now!  :duh:

Finding this sort of hidden talents what the "Idol shows" should be all about.  The stupid acts early on have turned me off completely from the entire genre.

Well... BUMP!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo7qN_Jv0Hk

The thing here is that the girl singing has that elusive quality that she is
able to mimic the song, or play it also with her bodylanguage.
But she does not overdo it, in a way.

Looking at this, and if I was a record producer ... I'd be thinking.
A Girl from Germany... able to do this.. Well, actually
what we have here, could with the right people and effort become an artist.

Such as this is all it takes these days!
Of course, what we don't know is will this person be able to take the
strain it is being a musical performer... You just don't know.

But this girl definitely had some talent!  :D
And the looks as well! And the voice seems more than enough

You know.
I'd bet Britney was not different at all from this at 17!!!
Max Martin and Denniz Pop most likely had the same "girl" to start with!
Notice how this German girl here uses her eyes in a most subtle fashion.
You've got a "signature move" right there... a stand out.

And I would bet that this is a very smart girl too!
using a "help" from the acoustics in the bathroom.
As we all know it's amazing what that can do to a voice...

Dang! Maybe she's into hifi!!! ?  :thumb:

I'd call this guy gifted.

WOW!

Absolutely no inclination or appreciation for opera, but that blew me away...

Never thought I'd ever buy an opera disc - Paul Potts still in the shrinkwrap - guess I could take it back, but nah.  There's a first for everything.  Beware of mid life sensitivities.  Maybe I'm finally mature enough to give classical (or serious music as they say) a go?

That occurred last Spring and there was a longish thread started about it at the time. He is quit amazing and ended up winning the competition. Mr. Potts CD is out and available here:

Here's another rather nice version of Nessum Dorma:

Windchaser, you just have to listen to the right opera arias and you'll be hooked!
Here's a link to two of the most beautiful back to back arias you'll ever hear. Don't be put off by the the datedness of this video as these were two of the finest operea singers who have ever lived. Each song is a the character telling the other about themselves. This is from La Boheme by Puccini:

And a more modern version of of O Soave Fanciulla from the same opera:
