Red wine. Sangiovese (or blend), Pinot Noir, Neibbiolo, Shiraz (Syrah), Cab blend, Tempranillo or other Spanish wine for every day. A bigger wine for special listening sessions with company: Barolo, Barbaresco, Bordeaux, Amarone, Brunello, Burgundy. The latter, unfortunately, have gotten very expensive so it's a very occasional thing.
Luckily there is a great deal of very good wine from around the world at reasonable prices. The Pinots from California and the Pacific Northwest have gotten very good and often can be had for $12-18 retail (I buy by the mixed case to get a 20% discount). Luckily, also, I rarely have more than one 6 oz. glass a day.
