Just wondering if there are any AudioCircle members in Washington
state and if so, will anyone be going to the Vacuum state of the art converence? It is being held at the Red Lion hotel in Silverdale, WA on October 3-5. This will be my first time to an event like this would like to meet up with some people if they are interested. For more info, check the website www.vsac2003.com.

I'll be going.

Wayne from Bolder Cables will be going as well. And I believe Tyson said he was coming up as well.

Anyone else?

If I am working in Seattle or Portland area at that time, I will be there.  That sounds like fun.

I'll be going... that is unless Tyson is going.  Between Waynes and Tysons ego there won't be enough room in the car for me.

hm I might be interested in going.  I've never listened to tube gear before.  Do they have live demos there or is it just looking at gear?  thanks,

George

The main thing about these shows is the demos.

Bolder Cable will be teaming up with some other vendors from AC.

We will have the new Teres 340 TT playing vinyl through
Jim Hagerman's Trumpet phono preamp and step-up transformer.
Eighth Nerve will be supplying room treament and maybe some audio racks.

Speakers will be VMPS FST 626Rs and a Larger Sub.
Amps will be Radii mono-blocks.

All cables will be by BOLDER Cable :D

I will have lots of Bybee in the system that can be removed, so folks can listen and make up their own minds about them.

I believe Modwright, DIYCable, Bent Audio, Omega Speaker Systems and Solar HI-FI, all folks who have circles here on AC, will be there showing off their gear.

Here is the list of the all the exhibitors:

GR Research will be exhibiting too.

I am sharing a room with Cryotweaks. We will be using his cables.

Electronics will be the latest tube gear from Dodd Audio.

Speakers shown will be the Diluceo's and Criterion's.

Not official yet, but from recent conversations the Eight Nerve they may be treating our room as well.

More later on the show...

Danny,

Will you have one of the Dodd 50wpc amps at the show? This is the amp that I just purchased (the integrated version) and I am still looking for a good speaker to use with it. The two speakers I would really like to hear with it is the Zu Driud/Rune and yours  :D

To all the VSAC exhibitors, especially 8th Nerve...

There's two things the majority of people out there seem unfamilar with, and that's hearing the difference that room (1) tuning/optimization provides, and (2) what room treatment/correction provide.

There's alot of people that have heard rooms that have been tweaked or treated -- but not necessarily a before/after.  Yes, there are plenty of folks whose rooms have evolved...but I would probably say this is by far the minority.

I know conference/hotel space isn't cheap, fills up quick, shipping/moving equipment is trouble and costly as well...

Whether done as an exhibit/lecture on room tuning/optimization/control, or simply in partnering with an exhibitor....

...being that you get a large group of people in one place, and you're in a hotel, so you can get two rooms that are nearly identical -- it would be really neat to have a manufacturer bring two of everything.  Set up one room and get it as good as you can under the conditions working together with 8th Nerve, but not treating anything.

Now go to the second room, right next to it with the adjoining door.  Setup the room the same way, treat the room to the fullest extent that makes sense, change things a bit to take into account the treatments.

What do you end up with?

A great demo, and great A/B that most people will never see due to not having duplicate setups, 2 rooms, 2 identical rooms, and the problem of audio memory as you make change A, then change B, etc.

A great lesson in how much/little treatment can do for you and a room.

People that already own some of the manufacturer's products seeing how great they truly can be, and what effects aren't to blame on equipment.

Potentially people that are disastified with manufacturer's equipment under a crappy room (the 1st room), seeing how much the room affects things, and placing an order when they realize it isn't just the equipment.

And 8th Nerve getting a waiting list of people knocking on their door to place orders.[/list:u]
Still trying to see if I can swing the trip -- I would really like to go.

Whether from a seminar perspective or a sales perspective, if anyone did this in an A/B fashion, it sure would be great, and a potential eye opener for a lot of people.

Agreed.  I think it would be great chance to hear room treatment in effect.

Hey mca,

I think Gary is going to send my with a couple of his 120 watt mono-blocks.

Why don't you bring that 50 watt Dodd Amp with you when you come? I would be more than glad to drop it into the system. I have heard it several times with the Diluceo's and I think it to be a beautiful match.

Sorry guys, you won't hear the same systems with and without room treatment, but there will be rooms there with treatment and those without it I'm sure.

Trust me, it makes a big difference.

I am looking forward to attending and Bob Crump from T.G. Audio Labs is driving up from Houston to join me for the drive. He says he will be bringing a Blowtorch preamp, which is SS, so we will glue some tubes to it so the Vacuum State people don't throw us out.

Hey there Mike,

Nice to see you around these parts.

If Bob doesn't have a place to set up the Blowtorch, you guys are welcome to bring it around to our suite :D

DANG, I just returned from vacationing in Seattle!

Seattle is a fabulous city - very colorful - but look out when the sun sets downtown - a lot of very sleazy folks come out from under rocks and behind the woodwork at night. Nighttime strolling is not recommended!

You realize Bob will bring his Stevie Nicks inflatable doll as well don't you?? (and she takes up more room in the car than she used to). Make plans for a lengthy drive since he'll insist on stopping at every roadside cilantro stand and throbbing gristle barbecue.  Best of luck. :D

Hey Wayne, I am looking forward to seeing you again. And Tonto, I hope you are wrong about the blow up doll. No way in hell am I sharing a car with Bob and his girl friend. I think the big challange will be passing up Steak houses.

I'll be there.  I will have an amp in the DIY Cable/Adire Audio room.  Looking forward to meeting the AC members who make it there!

Don't worry Mike, I'll let some air out of Stevie so there will be plenty of room in the GTI.......Still wonder if I can sneak the Blowtorch and Vendetta into a room as don't think that hot melting some tubes on top will convince anyone......Do recall Jonathan Skull asking which tubes we used a few years ago at the CES.....I understand the thing to eat up there is spotted owls or snail darters, not steaks.....
