Let me tell you, hotbird, that Steve Eddy has genuine engineering credibility in my books and that the cynical obfuscation, to use the polite term, that I see throughout Michael Wolff's site is an insult to those seeking to advance the science of music reproduction.
I say cynical because I can't believe that it is not done with conscious intention.

And by the way....I actually heard 3 of the Acoustic Revive products, including the "stethoscope", at CES.  They all work to a varying degree, reducing system-induced noise and creating more coherence in the presentation. In one of the comparisons performed (by the Acoustic Revive gents), my impression was that the ionizer had a greater impact than the grounding unit (they had followed one comparison with the other).  Other people I spoke with only heard the grounding unit (in the Wavac/Continuum/Prana room), but said they heard a noticeable improvement with it....and that was in a six-figure megabuck system.  Take it for what it's worth.

But none of this negates what Steve is objecting to, which is the language being used to describe or explain the phenomena.  Steve patently objects to anyone telling others, especially in matters of science, "trust me". Part of the problem is the translation from Japanese to English.  It's likely that what we're reading is the result of a translation program, rather than a sentient being doing the work. But the products do work, whatever the real explanation might be.

True..... everyone who knows Steve would agree that he is truly a master of internet rhetoric and logic. I've heard tell he actually holds small pebbles in his hands as he types. But many would also acknowledge that Steve is also a master of  , irregardless of however eloquent he may be.
And frankly, this stifles those potential directions that this thread could take. Specifically, while I agree that the technical explanation, IMO, qualifies as twaddle, I'd be interested is finding out what exactly is going on. Could I duplicate whatever efficacy with a sheet of grounded aluminum foil between components? Mu Metal? Is it functioning as a 'sink' for rfi and/or magnetic flux? Does it work best with components that leak like a sieve such as NuForce amps?  Curious minds need to know.

Or would a can of some other kind of ground /dirt connected to your system work as well or better. A container with graphite powder might be worth experimenting with. I use a grounded sheet of 20ga. copper under my turntable to suppress hum with excellent results.
