Have had them up and running for a week or so. Have gone the minimalistic way by just mounting them on a sheet of plywood.

It's on prototype stage yet. But one driver weigh 24 pounds, and is stable by it's own weigtht.

Here's the size compared to a cd-cover:

It's place'd right in front of the mainspeaker:

I'm cutting the bass upwards at 80hz/48 dB, and downwards at 22hz/48dB.
The sound:
Each driver has taken the place of dual Peerless 12" in each channel (W-baffle). I thought the 12" where nice, but the difference is quite big. The bass is much tighter and not boomy at all (which the 12" was in some way at loud volumes). The kick drum is really sounding like a kick drum, and not some animated wannabe

The deep bass is less distorted and is not trigging any big resonances in my room
This driver seems to fit the broadbander much better regarding sonics. The 12" broadbander is a coted papertype. Just the same as the 18".
I have not applied any eq yet, as I do not feel the need for any. There is enough grunt down there. I'm going to run some sweeptones sometime , to get a real picture of the performance around 20-30hz.
As you might see, the old housing for the W-baffle, is making som kind of U-baffle. But it's not contributing to much, because it's not airtight on the sides (quite a gap).
Next: Try them in a ripole, and if success, buy another pair

I'm very happy with these new drivers. I have already sold the old 12" Peerless for the same amount I gave. I have used them for 4 years . (Who said DIY is expensive

) If I do not enjoy the ripol's, I have planned to make a baffle ala Jamo 909 with one 18" in ech channel. Magnet mounted off course. I could live very happy with only one driver pr. side, as it's already bettering the bass from most of the other gear I have lent my ear to (at a fraction of the cost).
There is no substitute for large conearea aa
Cheers
