the oneacs, etc, are excellent, especially at the cheap prices found on ebay...  but, i have heard excellent bass w/a cartridge no better than a sumike bp, (rega exact?) on a friends' rega planar 3, essentially the same deck as the nad tt...

Hi TY,

I actually find the bass performance of my TT (WTT+BPS+Plinius) is pretty close to my digital (Marantz CD-23).

The main difference being a bit more extension to the digital bass but a little more air and definition with analog.

If anything my CD player sounds like more analog and my TT like digital (in a good way !).

:?

To Doug S:

AFAIK the NAD 53 is closer to the Rega 2 than Rega 3.

That's exactly the goal I am working on.  I am using a modded Technics 1200, modded Stanton Groovemaster II & Monolithic Sound phono pre and a belt driven CD transport (Parasound) with Channel Islands DAC.

What's a WTT?

Back to the subject, this guy's got a mess:  I told him to drive to Toledo but I still have to hear from him...

michael,
I've seen some unusual platter designs, but those Well Tempereds take the cake (should I say BAKE the cake??)--

I DO like the color-coordinated dust covers. :D
