Exceptional / Underrated Actors of our generation

ONe actor that has captured my attention recently is Robin Williams.  He's done some very good work, but usually in comedy roles (Patch Adams, Flubber, etc).  But recently, he's been expanding into some very good stretch roles.

In Insomnia, he plays the killer.  He was so convincing for me, it was very creepy.

I have not yet seen ONe Hour Photo, as I've heard it's a slow movie.  Will be interesting to see how Williams digs deeper into the psychopath.

He's one scary dude sometimes.

One Hour Photo was a much more interesting movie than Insomnia.  William's acting in it is among the best I've seen.  Really good stuff.

I suppose film buffs like to look to Brando or maybe Dean as being the first of the modern film actors. (going beyond the 'stage' and embracing film as a new genre)

I think one of the breakthough perfomances was Paul Newman in "The Hustler".

Sorrry....a bit off topic.

Although it could fall into that idea of the 'movie star...who could really act' catagory.

I love those old time guys like Bogart, and Grant. (does it get much better than "To Kill a Mockingbird"?) But they always seemed to be 'acting'. To me...Newman seemed to be one of the first to really get into the character.
