I've added all the upgrades you've described over the past three years to my RM40's except the outboard cross over.  In my opinion this is the order of what makes the best improvement: 1) mid woofer upgrade, 2) CDWG, 3) blackhole, 4) lambswool.  I'm not sure I could hear a difference with the lambswool, but it was cheap enough, thus worth doing.  The mid woofer upgrade and blackhole upgrades are significant, especially if you like music with deep tight bass.

Corbin

I think Corbin "nails" it pretty well.

I do want to remind all that the initial cabinet upgrade offer has been over for some time (actually over a year) and getting new cabinets is a larger undertaking.

That said, I would seriously encourage those who use VMPS for both HT and 2 channel, to consider the value of "splitting" the RM40 pair, picking up the CDWG's, and using the pair with one in the FRONT, (horizontally) for a CENTER Speaker, and one in the rear for the rear of a 6.1.

Then pick up a pair of RM v60's, RM30C's, or RM2's for the L&R.

This will work well with Front and Rear Projection Systems, and talk about a sweet spot for HT aa

And the Dynamics would be majestic and bordering on unbelievable. :o

There is "NO" Center channel that I have ever heard that could compete with this on all levels (Yes, you run it on LARGE)

Nothing I know of would touch it :thumb: in most areas of performance.

Wouldn't the horizontal mount defeat the purpose of the CDWG

More realistically, at least for me,  as to the RM30C as a center channel can you order it with out the base, or any other mods,  for horizontal use..

Does anyone have LRC RM30C's this seems like it might be a good combination

Hi Tom,

Good point and it might seem so, but the RM40 for a Center is generally used in larger Home Theaters.  The width of the RM40 creates an extremely wide sweet spot, and the dispersion of the CDWG when used Horizontally allows for rows of risered seating and everyone gets good clear Center Channel sounds and Dialogue.

The Frontal array create a very seemless Sonic from stage left to stage right

And I don't wanna get "freaky" or anything, but this might be mind altering for some, but I would like to see (hear) someone go "horizontal" RM40s for the "Side Surrounds"
 aa :o aa :o aa :o aa :o

Wow!  What a Pan that would make.

What with all those out there thinking of going RM v60, and looking for someone to adopt (buy)  their cherished RM40s, this could be an "unreal" HT-MAX opportunity.

While we are horizontalizing what about the VLA I can see one on it's side behind my couch - Or even better  I have a ledge above my entertainment center about 20 above the floor - I can just see a VLA up there  - Of course I'd probably need to rent a crane to get it there and get divorce and black listed by the neighbors

I know if I had the VLA, I'd be experimenting on horizontal attitudes.  aa

Wonder what it would be like firing toward the ceiling?
