Thanks BRN:I am currently looking at the Exact Audio Copy Tutorial from your link. I printed an used the EAC Quickstart Manuel from this very site. This is what I have entered in the "Program Path" box on the "External Compression Tab" : C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\FLAC frontend.exe By the way, I just noticed that there is a space between FLAC and frontend.exe is this right??Thanks, rklein
I don't think that path leads to the right file. I think it should look like this: C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\flac.exe
I set mine up in EAC to automatically kick off the FLAC encoder. Don't remember the tab this option is under - sorry.
How are you copying the files? I highlight the tracks I want to copy and select:Action->Copy Selected Tracks->Compressed.. Shift+5.
his is what mine looks like and its working just fine. Try entering the path so that it leads to "flac.exe", and not "flac frontend.exe". If that does not work, take a look in the "Exact Audio Copy" file and make sure you've dropped the right file in, which should be "flac.exe". I hope this helps. I just went through the same thing installing to another computer last week. If you do not have the "flac.exe" file, I'd be happy to email it to you.
bprice2:Thanks, I went back into the FLAC folder and found the correct .exe file. My path now looks like this:C:\Program Files\FLAC\flac.exeI will rip my next CD and see what happens. Thanks to allRandy
When I started to rip my tracks, an warning box showed up on each track stating "the external compressor returned an error!" Not sure why this is happening. I went back into the EAC folder and deleted the FLAC frontend file and dropped in the FLAC.exe file. I then went back and hit browse on the Program/Path Box and put in C:\Program Files\FLAC\flac.exe I then went back to re-rip the same CD. However, the same error warning box keeps appearing. Thanks,Randy
On the "Status and Error Messages" Box, the peak levels range from 100% to 76% and the Track Quality ranges from 100% to 99.8%. In addition, at the bottom of the report it states "No errors occurred. Am I ok? Do I disregard the Warning Box stating "the external compressor returned an error!"Thanks,Randy
Well, you need to direct the compression path to the place where flac.exe is. It sounds like you took my advice and placed a copy of flac.exe in the EAC folder, which mean you need to change the EAC compression path to C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\flac.exe as opposed to C:\Program Files\FLAC\flac.exe.
