PS Audio Duet ($395 for 2 duplexes) or Quintent ($695 for 4 duplexes) don't offer balanced power but do a good job of filtering noise, isolating and protecting against surges.

Blue Circle Music Rings (about $900 bucks for 1200 watts balanced power) are good. They show up on Agon for around 600 bucks used and I think are $935 shipped from their distributors.

BPT offers good quality, great options for flexibility and good pricing. From filtering units through balanced power. Check their website.

The APC units have gotten good reviews and are reasonably priced.

Thanks Jim.  I was looking for the same answers.

Looks like the Duet will fit the bill for my needs. The Haley Looks nice, but I only need 4 inputs.

Know that PS Audio uses nickel plating on their outlets which will make for a bright sound, great if your system's weak but if you have a high resolution system with stunning clarity already, these nickel plated duplexes could push your system into a listeners fatigue region,,,, been there, done that for me and in my system, ymmv.  :D

Best deals are used conditioners at A'gon on the cheap. I'm a BPT man myself but I also haven't tried any others except a PS Powerport,,, which has long left the building.

Cheers,
Robin

Consider Belkin Pure AV. Most are 1800 watts The 30 is about $300 and the 60 is about $600. Or a used one [no warranty] for a lot less. The 31 is what I have. Love it.

Hey!

Please define "the most reasonable power conditioner for the money." At what price range do you want to spend. What reasonable to you might not be reasonable to me

BTW... I've been using PS Audio P600 since 2001 feeding my entire audio system. Yes, it is only 600 watts but it is enough for me :D

If you don't have mega watts amp(s) you could check out the used P1000 or the new Premium of which good to 1500 watts I think. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Anything from Furman. The IT Ref series stuff is awesome! I had the IT-15 for some time, I now use just a small filter for digital gear and Juice Bars for everything else.

Don't get faked out into thinking you need a very high wattage power conditioner if your power amp is high wattage. My Rotel 1090 is 380 w/Ch but since I have very efficient Klipsch RF-7 speakers [98db I recall] the amps draw only about .6 amps ie 72 watts. My total system is on my Belkin [1800 watts] and draws only 264 watts. Go figure. Surprised the hell out of me.

I’ve tried a variety of power conditioners in my system and in a friends. From the multi thousand dollar Furman Reference, the popular Monster to cheap APS’s and quite frankly I find that NONE are acceptable with any type of power amp. From a 2 watt SET to a 400 watt SS amp. Plugging the amps directly into the wall outlet was by far the best sounding under all conditions and circumstances. This also applies to the preamp. Still, the expensive Furman IT-Reference was the absolute best sounding power conditioner I have ever heard, leagues better then anything else.

To each his own. I guess each person has to try it for themselves, in their system with their ears!!! My system/ears likes everything plugged into the PLC.

Up until last year I would have agreed with you. Never had positive experiences with power conditioners in general, and their effects on amplifiers was horrid. However, this has changed. I got a home edition with an Audio Magic Mini-Reference conditioner. Unconventional design for sure. But it works. Improves my system quite substantially. Soundstage is layered nicely, very transparent, and lower noise floor. What is intresting is the sides of the soundstage got deeper and focused. I bought it, and wouldn't be without it.

Audio Magic...

I see they offer power conditioners ranging in price from 500 bucks to 8000 bucks.  Same goes for their cables.  A price range that absurd on its face, for products not involving aerospace engineering, has hype and scam written all over it.  It's obviously a target price marketing thing, not a relative performance thing.  Manufacturers who build umpteen variations of one product to obvious price points are suspect, IMO. Doesn't mean they don't basically work, but, please.

If the Mini Reference deepened and focused the sound stage, the top of line version had better extend it into your neighbor's backyard...

i have not tried any high end pc and i live in an apt with noisy ac.  the reason, for the cost of some of these you can continue to use and enjoy a RWA sig amp with battery power.  Sort of a solution in of itself.

This is not to say that pc dont work.  I have had good success with a vh audio hot box with a simple filter on my digi front end.  also if money is not a concern im sure the high priced spreads like bpt , running springs shunyata et. al do some very good things.

I just think you may want to keep this in mind. Id rather have a new component then a ultra high end  pc.  But thats just a matter of personal preference.

Id also suggest reading the long and often confusing alan maher thread here. There are tons of folks using that system for 70 bucks on up claiming great results.

Man, this is why it's so hard to pick a conditioner. I've read through so many of these threads and it's makes me feel like it's 3am on a long Saturday  night.

Perhaps I should be more clear.

I was looking for a 4 outlet hopefully passive for my pre/D*/HDDVD/CDP/TV.  Guess that means I need 5 ports unless I subtract something from that  :icon_lol:

Anyways, thanks for the thoughts.  I'll keep researching all your suggestions.

Found this on Agon.  For $650 bucks it sure seems cost effective and helps protect the rest of the equipment in my house.

Do a little reading about the Environmental Potentials EP-2050. It's a whole house, high frequency harmonics, surge, spike and random noise filter/surge suppression device adapted from an industrial product sold by Environmental Potentials. $650 new, plus about $150 for installation by a licensed electrician.

The Bryston Torus wall mount units look interesting also.

Used the PS Audio Duet.  It practically slaughtered the higher frequencies.  The sound became dull, lifeless.  Another fellow audio enthusiast I know had the same opinion.
