Hmmmmmmmmm
I been waiting about a year to hear and probably purchase a pair of the LS 9's and I got to thinking ( I know this is scary ) this morning, maybe instead of always trying to be on the cutting edge ( which is expensive ) it would be smarter to pick up someones used Alphas and save some money aa
If you watch the progression of new equipment you can see it happen all the time. The last big change here was.........VMPS RM 40's for 2-3K so everybody could buy Salk's. Dodd reference pre's being sold to buy the new battery pre (which I have), and so on. You know if I was a year or two behind the curve it might not be a bad thing and my gear would always cost about half of the new stuff
and still be top shelf.
Anyone planning on selling their Alpha's to finance their new speakers, LS9's?
In general, you are ABSOLUTELY correct, but, IMHO not on this one, the price they are selling the initial orders, I cannot believe will last. Break it down, look at what Danny gets for the kit alone, I bought a new pair in limited edition cause I believe I could always resell at what I paid, or maybe even more. The price HAVE to go higher, cause these is just no enough profit to stay in biz, at intro pricing. These would retail for 12-20K if retailed........JMO, but, I have bought, tried and resold more than most audio stores in the past few years. I currently own the Epiphany 12/12's, and have them pre-sold in favor of the LS9's....the 12/12's list for 16,500, and the finish is no where near as nice as the piano-rosewoods I have on order. Not to mention the FULL RANGE sound

:drool:After buying the Reimer Tetons for 50% of retail, and sellin em for 30% I vowed to NEVER buy new speakers again, but I am smart enough to know a steal-deal when I see one.
If ya don't buy em now, YOU LOOSE out.......
