It seems like yesterday I was being burned at the stake over on Audio Salem for being an advocate of the Tripath sound, remarking that it had a sonic reminiscent of tubes. Immediately, shrieks of "Heresy!!" were heard echoing throughout the land. The heretics being accused, myself and JCC,(Jesse Cornelison,) were tried, found guilty, burned, and our ashes scattered to the winds by the Thermionists, the Pentodists, and most vocal were the fundamental adherents to the Holy Triode. I could not have foreseen the ridiculous responses from some of these people. ...Now, we have the Signature 30, an entirely optimized total customized T amp, late generation Tripath magic box which has been widely accepted by even the most strident of the Triodists as a fabulously musical machine. So, that it has been awarded a 6Moons Big Time Medal of Honour, is not only sweet news for a friend, but abit of vindication, for myself.
For the very first time, in my opinion, there is a solid state amp that will make tube-o-philes musically happy, a non tube amp that can hang with the really sweet stuff. A tube amp without the tubes is an interesting thing.
