Help,  Fall has faded into dreary winter.  I need some "upper music".  Where do you find sunshine on a 5" disk?

I thought you meant residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula (pronounced "Youpers").  Those people know how to deal with a dreary winter-houses frequently have doors on the second floor for winter access.  They also have their own regional music-think cheery polka type music.

Jimmy Buffet -- I think of parrots, beaches and Hawaiian shirts.
Calypso -- steel drums transport me back to the Caribbeans.
Reggae also works.
Then there is Don Ho......  :icon_lol:

Hmm that seems to be a tall order, to have a whole CD that has no downer songs

Stevie Ray Vaughn's Texas Flood has "Pride and Joy",  "Mary Had a Little Lamb", but then you also have "Texas Flood", "Dirty Pool" , "I'm Cryin'"

And Reggae can be pretty dark too..."Lion Got a Right to Live"

Joni Mitchell and Neil Young have some uppers and plenty of downers. Same witrh the Beatles.

Some of the older stuff makes it easier : Glenn Miller, Perez Prado ("King of the Mambo"). Or the 50's and 60's.

Doc Watson comes to mind as someone who is almost always upbeat in the acoustic Americana department..

Other than a couple Beach Boys albums my music collection is pretty sad & depressing.  Sarah McLachlan is happy music to me even though most people I know say she writes sad songs, go figure...

Back when this song was new and it was on the 4 hour rotation, I called my local DJ (Mark Close) and said, "Alright, I can't take it anymore. If you play that song one more time, I swear to the heavens I'll come down there and blow the station up.".......Mark just laughed (as well he should have). It was just about that time I stopped listening to commercial radio.

Yesterday's Toronto gathering jogged my memory nicely.  Frank Zappa, if the songs "Catholic Girls" and "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" don't crack you up and leave you laughing, then I really don't know what will.  I got kicked out of a record store once when I was listening to Frank Zappa on one of the CD sampler stations and I completely lost it and couldn't stop laughing.

Sunshine music?    Not quite my cup of tea but hey....these guys were pretty popular....

If it's humor....try Firesign Theater's, "Don't Smash that Dwarf, Hand me the Pliers!"

George Tirebiter will thank you for it.
