Would you please provide contact info for Antique's tubes in Arizona.
I tried a google search with no luck.
Thanks,
Jeff

I think he's referring to Antique Electronic Supply:

further FYI....

I checked with AES last week.
Ones in stock are date code 6226.
This should mean 26th week 1962.

I inquired about 1950's vintage, and they did not have any.
So If you want some of the real old ones...hit EBay!

We are sorry to interrupt the regular scheduled broadcast....

toobluvr, not sure if this was answered before but does your avatar have a dolphin or shark pictured?  I can't tell.   I have always been freaked out about sharks when surfing in SoCal, having seen nature programming about how one looks like a seal on a surfboard; a shark's favorite meal.

Now back to your regular scheduled program....

Thanks for the info Gentlemen.

I ordered a Tung-Sol 2C51 on the 28th from these guys.

http://www.tube-shop.com/usa/prod_nos_detail.asp?ProductID=209&ProcessType=17#

Tubes are new to me, so I have no idea if this is a decent price or if I bought a tube with a ton of hours on it already.  If anyone thinks I screwed up chime in.  I would welcome your comments on this company and their products.

Thanks,
Jeff

I am really wondering, is the stock GE5670 tube that comes installed in the Paradisea really all that bad? Does it have no uniquely good qualities at all?

Yes it has a shockingly beautifully red glow that transends the acrylic case adding to the beauty of the Parasedia and causes a immediate urge to go into a Transcendental Meditational state of the mind.
Other than that it isnt that bad. Just that there are others that are better.

Heck no! That little tube sounds just fine. If your system is a little bright or hard sounding, that tube will fit like a glove. On the other hand if your system is bordering on the warm side, thats where these NOS tubes help to provide the proper system balance. Balance being the operative word with any change to your system.

If you like the sound of the stock tube, then thats all that matters. Don't get caught up in chasing NOS tubes, you could drive your self nuts. Just sit back and enjoy the music :thumb:

I agree I like the WE 396a because my system is on the warm side. But if it was SS and "bright" I would consider using the GE tube.

I'm curious about the Tung-Sol that Jeff ordered. I'll just play with what I have for now ..maybe in a few weeks I'll order one. As Scott puts it... balance is the key! :thumb:

Gymane....This is what TonyD had to say about the Tung-Sol....(few pages back)

"I recieved my Bendix Red Bank tubes yesterday and took some time comparing them. They are certainly different than my reference 1950's Tung-Sol 2c51.  Better?  Hmm - not sure yet.  The Bendix is a little more detailed and smoother than my reference.  The Tung-sol is a little edgier but in a good way(slightly more dynamic sounding).  I'm not certain which I prefer yet.  I like both better than the WE396A which is just a little too smooth in my system   I also got a 1950's Tung-sol as a backup - it sounds the same as my reference so thats a good thing.

Why wait? Just email the manufacturer directly via ebay. Tell him that you want to buy a unit from him and he will sell one to you at the same price that he sells on ebay.

I've been poking around for this one myself.
Seems to be a bit scarce.
Here's one from 1958:

This seller has a few more, but they are 1983 vintage.

Apart from the link (pg 17) provided by Captain Humble (vintage of that tube?), this is all I could find.
Both sellers are British and have comparable prices.
