Since I started this thread!!!  Thanks for all the replies!!!  Very interesting!!!  But what about"Fleetwood Mac's", "Rumours" (I can't remember the correct spelling!!!) and "Joe Crockers", Greatest Hits", "You Are So Beautiful". The best thing about the music, never minding what it is! Just putting it on and enjoying!!!

I am a fan of Fleetwood Mac and Joe Cocker.  However, IMHO, to qualify for "best all time rock & roll", the music has to really represent a certain attitude...all the stuff that rock & roll embodies...rebellion, youth, freedom, etc.  It's got to rock and its got to roll.  Fleetwood Mac just doesn't represent R&R to me...Joe Cocker has some stuff, but still not that essential stuff.

I should probably remove Yes from my list...

Kinda a strange one, but Guided by Voices "Bee Thousand" is by far my favorite rock album.  The lo-fi recording quality, however, only sounds good in my '88 Mazda  :green:.

I just picked this one up recently.  I am a fan of a lot of indie and lo-fi stuff and it is certainly critically acclaimmed,  at least within that sub-class.  I can tolerate the extreme low fidelity, but I have to say that I really just don't get this one.  Is it a grower?  I just found it to be fairly amusical and void of any melody or tune.

I appreciate bands that write music they want to write and choose not to follow a cookie-cutter scheme to be a success, but I really don't get non-conformity for non-comformity's sake.  I will listen a few more times before I decide to flip it on half.com.  Built to Spill by contrast isn't mainstream but is highly music IMO.
