Since I don't see much about VIDEO for HTPCs, especially with a high-end CRT TV, thought I would post this link to the original topic

I used to before I went front projector. It's very easy using an ATI video card, the latest catalyst driver and the ATI dongle for HDMI to component. It's great using the computer on the TV, You won't need your DVD player, gaming rig, or CD transport after you figure it all.

I see this new card:

All-In-Wonder 2006 Edition Radeon 256MB DDR3/PCI-E/VIVO/DVI

There is also the X1900 (the one above is the X1300)

It uses the PCI-E slot, but not sure if that improves performance for using an HDTV as a PC monitor.

I am thinking that component video is basically a step up from S-Video, but that it is still basically S-Video.

The manual shows the dongle and breakout box.

It also says for S-Video the max resolution is 1024x768.

OK I see that the catalyst driver is the  ATI driver

You definitely want to use component if that's an option. I never used the All in Wonder cards but they should definitely work. Anandtech Hot Deals always has some deals on video cards if you're interested. You may want to check out AVS Forum Home Theater Computer section as well.
