I have a newish B60R but without a remote control. Would an old remote unit of any age (i.e. one paired with an old B60R) be compatible, or would I have to buy a new one? Or to put it another way, have the IR codes and functions remained the same right from the first model B60R?

Yes the old B60 remote will work.
