Hi All,

Check out the September issue of Stereophile for a complete review on the SP2 (pg 49) and comments on the KEF/BRYSTON/TORUS room at the recent Stereophile SHow in Los Angeles.

I Julie,

What does the article says (not having stereophile here) ?

Hi Moz,

They don't compare it with other pre's but in a nutshell they loved it, saying thats its 2ch performance is excellent as it's HT performance :)

Cheers,

Julie

Not a mistake - the SP2 and the BP26 have identical analog gain stages.

The nice thing about the SP2 review in Stereophile was they really understood this is a State of the Art AUDIO product.

The BP25 does not have the MPS-2 power supply.

James,

In the review, they claim that the alphanumeric display turns off after any control operation and that the LEDs are the only visual clues.  Mine doesn't turn off - it just dims down to a lower level.  Did Stereophile audition a different version of the SP2?

Hi James,

Let me start again ...

The article says that the SP2 "is fully equivalent in features and performance to their BP26 preamp".

I found this surprising because the SP2 came out sometime before the BP26 and always thought and sure that I have read that it has the BP25 preamp section. Thus, the reason for me asking if this was a typo?

Apologies if I caused any confusion in your previous response to my question.

Regards,

Julie

Hi Julie,

OK - let's be clear - the discrete Bryston Class A circuits are common to ALL our preamps and processors and have been for a number of years.

So performance is identical - features vary depending on which product.

Hope this helps.

James,

I don't mean to belabor this issue, but just so I understand, isn't it true that the BP-26 has better performance than the BP-25 or the SP-2, despite having the same pre-amp circuitry, due to the MPS-2 power supply?  I ask mainly because I have a BP-25, and have been thinking about upgrading to the MPS-2, as I understand the performance improvement is notable.  Is the SP-2 power supply equal in quality to the MPS-2, in terms of driving the pre-amp circuitry?

Thanks,
Stuart

I believe last night I had a similar issue to what Kal said he had happen. I was watching Sahara (HDDVD) on the 5.1 analog ports and every few minutes it would switch from analog to digital and I would hear what was coming through on my TV input. how do I set it to lock on the analog 5.1 when I am watching that source?

also, bad news. I did the FW update last night and I still get popping when changing channels on cable TV. it isn't as loud as it was, but definately still happens.

Hi Stuart,

Correct the MPS-2 used with the BP25 would be better than the older power supply used with the BP25.
