I haven't heard Salk speakers but I do have RM40s.  I am curious about the HT3s and I would like to hear them some time.
woodsyi....You can hear the Salk's at Gordy's....he's got a nice pair of HT3's...bring over your amps. I think they will surprise you.... :hyper:
Chris

I may just have to do that.  May be I can convince Gordy what he really needs are Bill's 'Canes for his HT3s.

Does this mean someone in Balto/DC area have a pair of HT3?  I have been interested in auditioning HT3 also. If Gordy doesn't mind accommodating one more guest, may I come along?  :)

I would love to hear Bill's 'Canes on the HT3's.  I bet that would sound incredible!

Now I am curious too.  We will work on the logistics.  It will be a PITA to move them....

The best decision is one to be made by the purchaser after comparing both speakers.

I personally own VMPS RM40s and enjoy listening to them very much (although I did have some initial QC issues).  If choosing between the RM30s and HT3s I might go with the HT3 for the deeper bass.  However, I do enjoy the detail and imaging of the ribbon midranges.

Best of luck,

John

P.S.  Why are you only comparing two speakers?  There are several speakers at this price point that should be compared.

If you want bass in the VMPS line minus the size of the RM40's, give the Rm2's a try. A fellow audiocircle member preferred my RM2's to the RM30's he just bought.

The RM2's do give excellent bass with the 12" Megawoofer.  However, the RM40s bass is as good and with 2 10" drivers you will move more air.  With that said, the RM2s and 1/2 the price of the RM40s is a excellent bargain.

And half the size.
