I have same problem with my remote
Yeah, there's definitely an issue with the remote on my SP2 also (upgraded from an SP1).
The processor simply stops receiving commands from the remote once in a while and the only fix is to reboot.
At one time I felt as though I had it solved, in that it only seemed to go into dead mode when I used a universal remote to supply it commands, but have since found that this isn't the real problem.
It would appear that there is some sequence of commands from my satellite remote that puts it into the funk. Unfortunately I can't reliably repeat the fault, so I don't officially complain about it.
When the fault occurs, the processor completely ignores remote commands (including no telltale LED flashing on the front panel). The processor itself works fine, just no remote.
Leaving the unit on for days and exclusively using only the SP2 remote in the room creates no fault. But then begin using other remotes in the room will eventually cause the SP2 to go remote dead. It seems other remotes are giving it a command it doesn't enjoy.
It would appear it's solvable by firmware, since the fault never occurred before upgrading to the SP2. I note that most everyone who observes a problem has had an upgrade....
