Possibly tomorrow. It's only travelling twenty miles.

However, I'm also receiving another amp tomorrow...also on an audition. The other amp has a fifteen day audition period and will require a week of burn in, so it's likely I won't give the Dussun any serious listening for at least a week.

Moscode 401HR...and possibly a Wolcott P280-S.

The Dussun V8i came up in a hurry, and I decided to act on it.

Yup. Both the Moscode and Dussun are intriguing in their own way.

My bank account would like me to prefer the Dussun.

The v8i has been cooking for a while. Like Earl I post a detailed review in the ciritic's circle. All I can say now is I am very impressed with both the build quality, and what I am hearing

Mine arrived today and is warming up. Judging by the exterior only, the build quality is consistent with a component in the $3000 retail range. Photos I have seen of the interior are impressive.

The speaker output binding posts, while easy to use, and having the appearance of a Cardas-type connector, do not have nearly the build quality of the Cardas. This is to be expected, but don't be deceived by their looks.

The RCA inputs appear to be of good quality...cosmetically similar to WBT...but I cannot confirm if they are WBT. I suspect they are not. It's a nice touch to have plastic caps over the unused RCA jacks. The RCA preamplifier inputs and the RCA amplifier outputs are disappointing in quality. Cheap consumer grade RCAs from their appearance. It would seem to have been reasonably inexpensive for Dussun to use the same RCAs in these positions as they used for the source inputs.

The power cord is very thin. I'd guess 16 gauge at the largest...perhaps even 18 gauge. I immediately attached a 14 gauge Volex 17604.

Listening impressions to follow in a week or two.

Speaker’s terminals are Dussun own design. RCAs are off shelf, but nice quality.

Ping, as I said, the source input RCAs do appear to be of nice quality. My point was that the preamplifier/amplifier RCAs are not of the same quality as the source input RCAs. This would seem to be an easy and inexpensive change for Dussun to implement.

Different type then other line terminals, may not look as good as others. I will forward your feedback to Dussun.

Thanks,
Ping

Ping,

The problem isn't that those sockets don't look snazzy, the problem is that those bent metal jumpers really sound terrible. (at least in the case of those supplied with Nad, Creek, etc... they really compromise sound quality).
Good sounding jumpers are available from Audioquest, Tara, evidently Jena, and others. They're actually quite easy to make -

The better solution is to take  1 1/2" pieces of (pocc) hookup wire and jumper them by tack soldering it on the pc board inside the chassis, eliminating the intermediation of the sockets and plugs. It sounds better than any jumper or interconnect. Or in the case of somone who wishes to feed a subwoofer, jumper with the appropriate value capacitor to provide a 6db/octave highpass for the main speakers. But that is obviously a warranty buster. So how about offering Ping Signature(tm) versions, pre jumpered, which allows easy reversion for those who really need to separate the pre and amp with some simple snips? I'm saying this somewhat facetiously, but this is an obvious, simple, low cost upgrade, that for most, would have to wait until the unit is out of warranty.
FWIW,
Paul

Hi Paul, thanks

Jena Labs makes jumpers and cables for me. Any body interested, give them a ring.
