Tvad when will your amp arrive?
Moscode 401HR
The Moscode 401HR looks enticing: http://www.moscode.com/moscode_amplifiers.htm#tubes
Mine arrived today and is warming up. The build quality is consistent with a component in the $3000 retail range. The speaker output binding posts, while easy to use, and having the appearance of a Cardas-type connector, do not have nearly the build quality of the Cardas. This is to be expected, but don't be deceived by their looks. The RCA inputs appear to be of good quality...cosmetically similar to WBT...but I cannot confirm if they are WBT. I suspect they are not. It's a nice touch to have plastic c ...
Ping, as I said, the source input RCAs do appear to be of nice quality. My point was that the preamplifier/amplifier RCAs are not of the same quality as the source input RCAs. This would seem to be an easy and inexpensive change for Dussun to implement.
Ping,The problem isn't that those sockets don't look snazzy, the problem is that those bent metal jumpers really sound terrible. (at least in the case of those supplied with Nad, Creek, etc... they really compromise sound quality).Good sounding jumpers are available from Audioquest, Tara, evidently Jena, and others. They're actually quite easy to make -http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=amp&n=53321&highlight=nad+jumper&r=&session=The better solution is to take 1 1/2" pieces of (pocc) hookup wire and jumper them by tack soldering it on the pc board inside the chassis, eliminating the intermediation of the sockets and plugs. It sounds better than any jumper or interconnect. Or in the case of somone who wishes to feed a subwoofer, jumper with the appropriate value capacitor to provide a 6db/octave highpass for the main speakers. But that is obviously a warranty buster. So how about offering Ping Signature(tm) versions, pre jumpered, which allows easy reversion for those who really need to separate the pre and amp with some simple snips? I'm saying this somewhat facetiously, but this is an obvious, simple, low cost upgrade, that for most, would have to wait until the unit is out of warranty.FWIW,Paul
