I sent my Demo 1.7 unit in in Feb, and I still don't have an answer of when the unit will be upgraded, very frustrating!!!!!!

HI Eddie,

We have had a problem getting enough digital boards for the upgrades. I will see if I can get an update for you.

Hi All,

Spoke with production people today - the problem has been getting enough of the DSP boards to handle upgrades plus production.

We should have this solved by early next week and we will start getting the upgrades sorted out soon there after.

Sorry for all the delays but the SP2 has sold at about 3 times the numbers we originally projected.

SP2 Upgrade what is the deal

Hi James!

From the posts above I conclude that there is or was a backlog for the SP-2 upgrades.

I brought my unit to the German distributor on March 14, 2006. I wasn't happy at all as I learned that the unit wasn't sent to Canada until the end of April. Now, having parted from my precious pre/pro almost three month ago, I am suffering from privation of the "real sound" worse than ever. The good old 12B that I acquired recently does the best it can. It isn't a real alternative for a SP-1/2 PRO, however.

Can you check on the status of my pre/pro unit (serial 404) which is supposed to be upgraded to a SP2 PRO and get a front panel color change to black!?

Thanks

Markus

Hi All,

We are sorry for the delay in the SP2 upgrades. As you know getting enough Digital Circuit Boards was a large problem in the beginning.

The way it was suppose to work was - the customer would notify Bryston his dealer or distributor that they wanted the upgrade. The dealer or distributor would than contact us and the customers name was put on a list and the customer or distributor would be contacted to arrange a scheduled time to send in the unit.  That way the customer would continue to use his old unit until it was time to send it in thus minimising the time our customer would be without his unit.

The delay for some of our customers out there was caused by the units being sent to us or the distributor immediately by the owner instead of waiting to be contacted.

We have started the upgrades and have completed about 20 units so far. We can do about 5 units a week and have at this point 50 units in the queue.

Actually the unit came in on 7-11  :P

I sent it in accordingly with a  2 week turnaround (I was told at the time), but the DSP issue came up, so I was on the list (very top).  I was told this week, then again this week, than again this week, I just missed this thing, sound sooooooooooo good.

Mine has been sent for upgrade on april and i'm still without news from Bryston...
I'm starting to be very disappointed by the way it turns.
No communication is not a good attitude with customers, James... !

PS : anyway, my retailer (who is understanding and cares for HIS customers), lend me his "own" PROCEED AVP2. This pre/pro is just wonderful, very equilibrated and sensitive. I like it a lot in stereo and it shines on HT (not has much as the MC12, but you forget it's here)

Hi Moz,

OK I looked into your SP1 issue.

Here are the facts as best I can tell.

1. The was a serious misunderstanding as to when we could actually provide updates to the SP1 and SP1.7 to SP2 status so a few customers actually submitted their units long before we were ready to go. - 2 months or so

2. When we finally announced we were ready to go - 2 days later the parts we needed for the DSP board were held up. - about a month.

3. We just recieved your SP1 SN 404 this Friday.

4. We have started the upgrade for you - one problem - the AES input - we do not have software available for that input yet - can we replace it with 2- Optical inputs instead?

James,

There must be a misunderstanding, my pre/pro is a SP1.7 and it's serial number is around 900 (i'll ask my retailer).
It was sent late april by French JBK AUDIO.
I also have an AES/EBU input, and, if you can't do a different way, i'll understand if you replace it with 2 optical inputs.

Hi MOZ,

OK - we have a solution.

SN 906 is your unit - it has been here for about a week - it is on burn-in and should be ready in about a week as long as your OK with the the 2- optical inputs instead of AES-EBU.
