I'm digging my laptop!
« on: 15 Apr 2006, 03:24 am »
Okay, the keyboard sucks like all laptops I've used- I'm really used to my split MS Natural keys.  Anyway mine is a pig, just a 1.5 gig Celeron, but all I plan to use it for is accessing the 'net while I'm on the road (the weeks stretch on and I'm still in Watertown staying at the Ramada, and I probably will be here for another month).

I considered buying a portable DVD player, an iPod-like device and/or a PSP...then it dawned on me that a laptop would perform all these functions.  I took my Griffin Powerwave with me; it fits neatly in my laptop bag.  Man, it's a nice 'phone amp!  Only problem is that my 'phones are pure junk.  Next time I'm in SF I'll have to pick up some Shure earbuds.  There's probably better but I don't have time to order them online so it has to be something I can buy in town.

At least I'll be able to keep up my post count! :P

I'm getting a lot of blank spaces in place of pics and icons... hopefully it's because John's doing a server swap!

You might want to add a Squeezebox and a Grado headphone then you'll be in audiophile zone. :)

Weird... your dueling icons are back, Rob, but not your Avatar.  Also, the F-100 avatar is there, but not Maxcast's Michigan helmet  :?

Hm... AC is now running on a setup in which the text content is served from Australia, but images are cached and served from the US. (It's cheaper that way!) Try doing a right click and "View image" on the problem images and see if that helps. If these problems persist please start a thread in Town Square and post the URLs of problem images or posts.

I guess I said it wrong- I could order them, but it would be difficult/impractical to have them shipped to the hotel.  I could order them and pick them up next time I'm home, assuming someone doesn't nab them if UPS leaves them on my doorstep.

BTW, my sig image is back simply because I hosted it on Imageshacked and linked it to here.  I guess I could change it back but there's no need.

Maybe the images were having issues when Borg switched the server.
