What's best for decoupling/vibration control for Dunlavy Alethas ? They are over 100 lbs. each . I have hardwood floors and am worried that ISOL pads ( the rubber ) might mar . the speakers have a 6 sided wooden base . Thanks .

These would work beautifully and bring ot the most that your speakers have to offer.

How would those work with the hexagonal base?

The same they would work under just about any speaker. You are only looking to achive a 3 point configuration. With the adjustments and versitility of the Sistrum Platforms, it would not be hard to get a well balanced 3 point set-up that would also allow for very good balance of the speaker.
We have used them under the Daedalus DA-1 which is far from square/rectangular.

My initial impression is that it would be hard to support a hex-shaped base on 3 points without some serious danger of the speaker tipping if touched.  Thinking about it, maybe it might even be safer than a rectangle...

No, No and No.  There is a mysterious power associated with number three.  Just ask Pythagoras.

I think they would work fine as long as it is big enough for the speakers.

That's rights. Speakers, source components and amplifiers all benefit from a 3 point configuration.

For less $$ invested, you caould always go with just the Audio Points (still in a 3 point).

This is probrably available at target or sams club; My kid plays on 1/2 inch thick rubber foam. You could cut this to taste and make various thicknesses by gluing layers together. It's an experiment that wouldn't cost you more than $25 bucks. I would reccomend rubber glue to patch layers together. Only problem is one side is black and the other comes in a variety of colors. You can probrably hide it completely under your speaker or even spray paint it black. It's just an idea.

BTW: By my estimates, one thickness will easily support over 200 lbs./sq. ft. without serious deformation.

Oh yes, the play mat sets. I have some of these laying around also. I woudl think they would be a bit to spongy to set speakers on?? I haven't tried so can't say for sure. Besides, my wife would kill me if I cut them up.

I am a huge fan of brass points myself. I find better results with coupling than using soft materials. The bass is just not refined and there seems to be a loss of focus in the midrange.

 Just my 2 pennies.

My experimental data suggests 200 lbs/ sq ft w/o serious deform. If the speakers weight is uniformly distributed, even less of a problem. It really only becomes an issue if many thicknesses are needed. If the center of gravity becomes too high, they'll tip over.
