I saw him opening for Richard Thompson - what a great performer. He also seemed like a genuinely nice guy. My earliest exposure to him came from thr audiophile rags. His first recording Aerial Boundaries was amazing demo material at the time for soundstage and dynamics. I heard it through a nice Krell/Apogee Ribbon system once and was hooked.
