Radio tune in to an SB3
« on: 15 Mar 2006, 01:09 am »
My favorite FM station for the past 18 years has been KKSF 103.7. They broadcast on the internet and I've listened to it sometimes when I'm on the computer.
When I try to enter the URL in radio tune on the slimdevices site nothing happens. On the right side of the window it says empty.
Anybody know how I can get slimdevices to recognize this station?

                    Cheers

Charlie,

It looks like the URL is:

http://a1394.l1979744902.c19797.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1394/19797/v0001/reflector:44902

It's a Windows Media stream, and it seems to work if I cut & paste the URL into Windows Media Player. My slimserver is running on a Mac, though, and when I tried to connect to it, it seems to have crashed. Maybe since you're running Windows, it'll work better for you.

How did you get the URL?  I want to play the mighty XX 105.7 FM/ 1090 AM on my Squeezebox.  They broadcast on both AM and FM.

Pugs, try this:

http://stream3.12milesout.net/mty1090

I'm not sure if it'll work, but I found it by going to their website, clicking on some links and using "view source".

Charlie,

I got it to work with my squeezebox. The real URL is:

http://a1394.l1979744902.c19797.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1394/19797/v0001/reflector:44902?MSWMExt=.asf

The other URL I posted was just a link to this one. Sorry about that.

That works as far as getting slimserver to recognize it but when I try the SB3 it says "Can't connect"

Well, Charlie, don't give up. I had my SB3 playing your favorite radio station this morning, so I know it's possible.

How did you enter the URL? I just went to the "Radio Tune-in" option on the main slimserver webpage and cut & paste the URL.

Rob:
The slimserver and the SB3 recognize the URL because both screens say the URL. The SB3 says "Now playing" and shows the URL. But no audio. I went to radio tune in and entered all the numbers you gave me. Is there something else I have to do?

                 Cheers

Charlie, try pressing the "Play" button on your SB remote control a few times, and then give it a minute. It sometimes takes a minute or two before the SB buffers enough data to start playing.

Thanks Rob,

I won't be able to test it for a couple weeks.  I just sent my SB3 back to Vinnie to get the updated mods.

Rashiki spent some time at my house Sat. While he was here he got KKSF dialed into the squeezebox. KKSF music sounds a whole lot better going through the squeezebox rather than the FM tuner.
