Similar in scope to side one of Atlantis (Evidence, 1967), Cymbals (Evidence, 1973), New Steps (Horo, 1978) and Other Voices, Other Blues (Horo, 1978); this stripped-down studio session is a unique example of Ra's wide-ranging artistry.Dominated by the sound of the Rocksichord (or, in Saturnian parlance, Roksichord) Ra plays the newly invented keyboard almost exclusively, adding a pair of mini-Moogs to a few solo pieces. Recorded in 1970 at Variety Recording Studio in New York with three core Arkestra members, the original quartet album is augmented with home recordings from 1964 featuring Ra alone on Wurlitzer electric piano. Diane Birch - Bible BeltMy last find at the record + cd fair. Actually, my original cd was one of my test cds at Rocky Mountain this year. When I got home, I couldn't believe how many scratches it received at RM. Luckily, I found a clean replacement at the fair for only $1. Martin also found one for a $1. Now, that's cheap and cheerful.

Good album Paul,, I burnt this album for some leaf touring tunes in my Magnum tuesday. I see why you took it to RMAF. Maybe you should have burnt a copy and kept the original at home. Just a thought Paul. A righteous CD is a terrible thing to waste. Cheers,Robin

Yeah, I almost kicked myself when I saw all those scratches. But some of the cd players at the show don't always read or play copies.
Actually it's a nice real effect, the street sounds is way off in the distance, very natural recording. The piano sound like a real piano in the room.

Lissie - Why You Runnin' EPAnother one of my Rocky Mountain test cds. Plus, Lissie signed my cd after the concert last Friday. She damaged her vocal chord a few weeks ago and had to postpone several gigs but wanted to perform in NYC, and got medical clearance a few days before the concert. I didn't know her condition until the next day, but I was shocked she could sing that well with a strained vocal chord when I found out. She's not that photogenic, but is stunningly beautiful in person. And she's all natural, no makeup.
