Extremely versatile, with experience in the Baroque, classical, and modern playing styles, Zivian and Tomkins are dedicated to the text of the music they perform. Ms. Tomkins plays on a Classical period cello by Joseph Panormo (London, 1811); and Mr. Zivian performs on a fortepiano built by Salvatore Lagrassa (Vienna, 1815).
I haven't heard of Laura Veirs. Is her music similar to M.T.s?
Vassily Primakov's latest disc presents three of Robert Schumann's early revolutionary compositions, all composed in the 1830s. Annotator Malcolm McDonald describes these pieces as "paradigms of Schumann's youthful, original approach to the idea of musico-literary inspiration."
Definitely a change of pace from the excellent BLUE COUNTRY HEART. Just now listening to it for the first time. So far I like it. -Roy
