While nothing Son Volt has released since "Trance" has lived up to that album from a musical or commercial perspective , I think this one could wind up being a close second after I get more time with it.George
Son Volt, American Central Dust
George,Its funny you ask that, because originally I was going to post that this was my favorite Son Volt release since Trace, except maybe for Okemah and the Melody of Riot, which I just think really rocks and is my fave by Jay Farrar and crew. Maybe it's the anti-George Bush sentiment, I dunno. Then I thought, nah....nobody's interested in that and this is a thread about what your listening to, not what you think and besides if somebody doesn't know Son Volt I should explain that the current band is totally different than the band that recorded Trace, except for Farrar, etc....Eventually, I talked myself out of posting anything except the album cover. I think this is a long way of saying I totally agree that this cd is really strong and seems to be Son Volt's best work in a long time. I've only listened a couple of times, but it seems to be growing on me, which is always a good sign. Steve
