I had a new friend over this past weekend and one of the things I played was Steely Dan's Cisco release of Aja and I'm goin (to myself), what? That's not sounding nearly as wonderful as I remember.  Spun it again an hour ago.  Same thing and so I'm wondering . . wha happened?  I figured it out.  I was confused.  I meant to play Gaucho (but played Aja).  Gaucho is bigger and richer sounding.  Vocals are more fleshed out and purer.  The ladies in the chorus benefit a lot as compared to Aja.  It totally kills Aja to me!  The copy I have is a 180g pressing, as is Aja, but the sound is so much more satisfying.  You try it and see what you think if you have them to compare.

I bought all of his SACD's a few weeks ago and have been [slowly] listening to them in release order.  Playing those two in one night was a real treat!
