Thoughts WC ? With that kind of music (symphonic, more or less) the samples don't really do justice. Bela can do just about anything he puts his mind to, and the samples are interesting, but does it come together as a whole ?

First time I had heard Bela Fleck do anything. It was kind of interesting to hear the banjo interplay with the rest of the string instruments. This album is not bluegrassy at all. He makes the banjo seem like it is a violin or other stringed instrument in the orchestra. Not sure if it comes together as a whole. String quartets are not really what I listen to most of the time in order to make an esteemed judgement.

I was a late comer to Bela's camp, he's taken the banjo way beyond just bluegrass. If you get the chance check out his 'Live at the Quick' DVD. It would class as mostly jazz, but the musicianship of he & the Flecktones is something to see & hear. Thanks for the thoughts.
