Bourgeois Tagg - Yoyo (1987)

Allmusic.com:

"This is a fun little record - and unfortunately the last for this group with
hot, catchy songwriting not too over the top with '80s cliché. Clever
wordplay is a strong point in their songwriting - akin to Elvis Costello
without all the sarcasm. Not a weak song here - every song is loaded
with smart pop hooks and intelligent lyrics - the only weak point coming
with the use of the name "Frankie" as the character in an otherwise
fantastic song "15 Minutes in the Sun." Single "I Don't Mind at All" is very
pretty, with syncopated rhythms, string arrangements, and great acoustic
guitar work by Lyle Workman. Great closing number "Coma" has an
unexpected, almost transcendental ending. The listener also finds nice
percussion work on "What's Wrong With This Picture" - a sad song about
infidelity. One of the finest examples of '80s power pop one is likely to find."

Some catching up last night........

David Bowie: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust    (40th Anniversary release, DVD-A, 96/24 remaster)  :o
Finally stuck the DVD in my inexpensive DVD-VHS burner/player, played thru a modestly price Yamaha HT Receiver, to good 'bookshelf' front channel speakers, and am at a loss to express how amazing this mix sounds. I sampled some of the 48/24 mixes, and while nice, there's no comparison. If you picked up this offering primarily for the vinyl, and haven't checked out the DVD-A yet, you should.

King Crimson:  In The Wake of Poseidon  (40th Anniversary release, DVD-A, 96/24 5.1 DTS)
Want to feel like you are sitting with the group in the studio during the session, this is your recording. Still have several variations to listen to, but as with the Bowie, the dynamics are amazing.

I had a roommate at my first duty station that used to spin that album all the time. I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw your post. I just ordered it - thanks for the reminder  :thumb:

Ian Hunter's siniging for Mott the Hoople and his early solo albums is great.  :thumb:

The Byrds. Tulsa County. From The Ballad of Easy Rider album.
Vinyl 1969. Catalog number 69-13 H. A. . 8)
Clarence White playing an amazing Telecaster with the mod he and Gene Parsons
made, called the neck strap second string-bender. Leo Fender purportedly would implement on the newer guitars. Never happened, but the sound was amazing.
similar to a steel guitar.

Worthy of a listen.
