I know this isn't a "proper" album - made of singles and b-sides, but holy crap,
this this is one of the most brutal "balls to the wall" bone-crushing American
punk albums I've ever heard. This mo-fro exceeds warp speed on every cut!

Not sure if I'd call spinning a disc which launches with a tune like Go and then Animal throttlin' back, Pup but what the hey? Rock on!  :thumb:

Sleater-Kinney -    One Beat   2002

Never mind the Riot Grrrl business, I thought this was one of the best releases of 2002 and one of the records to really get a handle on how many people felt in the aftermath of 9-11. The Dixie Chicks, Steve Earle and Toby Keith might have gotten the press but this album's Far Away hit a lot closer to home for me in that respect. Sleater-Kinney made some pretty big advances as a band by the time One Beat & The Woods were released, both as musicians and as songwriters and I miss 'em.
Oh well, I can still listen to Wild Flag and watch Carrie Brownstein beat on a Sarah McLachlan piniata on Portlandia...

Black Sabbath -  Symptom Of The Universe 1970-1978  ( 2002 )

Another really nice compilation from Rhino which serves as a quite respectable overview of the band in the days prior to Ozzy's transformation into whatever Ozzy is now...Excellent remaster, nice packaging in this two-disc set - you could do worse.

Rhino has been putting out some incredible stuff lately. The Smiths "Complete" box set I got for Christmas is second only to The Beatles "Stereo" box set in overall sound quality and packaging.
