John Martyn - On Air

Radio Bremen date from 1975. The opening and closing tracks make it worth the purchase: Great read of Lonnie Johnson's "Jelly Roll Baker," along with an absolutely mind-blowing, 13 minute take on Skip James' "I'd Rather Be The Devil."

That is 1 sweet find, awesome recording quality for 1975. Thanks!  :thumb:

ON CD Now Playing The Lp

After starting to play the cd I cleaned the new 180 gr record I purchased this weekend and it is absolutely beautiful

Bill,
I was envious when you showed me the Lp at the Rave.  I'm a big Byrds fan.  You lucked out at PRE.

A Happening

ON LP
A L.A.-based outfit whose album is at present only a very minor collectable. Seriously arty pop it mixes soft melodies with searing acidic guitar - tracks like Love (a Lee Michaels cover) owe a heavy debt to the Vanilla Fudge school. With covers of Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay and Cream's Sunshine Of Your Love amongst freshly-scrubbed harmony pop, this group seemed to be in a quandary - "are we just another pop group or a serious rock band?" The resulting dichotomy won't convince fans of either genre.

The John Martyn catalog is a real minefield. Glad to point you to a good one.
