Although he possesses a notorious penchant for showy pyrotechnics, Carter is a staunch traditionalist at heart?this session highlights his poetic side, largely avoiding histrionics. A nostalgic vibe permeates the session, further reinforcing Carter's tough but tender approach.
This is the second album by this name - first one was recorded in 1972. Since then he wrote a song called Back Home in Sulphur Springs, and he and his wife recorded this album over three days in a setup that allowed them to record when they felt the urge.

Whiskey Before Breakfast is a great album as well.--Jerome
Cool - do you have any other good acoustic stuff? I just got a few new John Fahey and a Leo Kottke, and some others
I saw Norman Blake a few years ago at a local folk festival - got some good video and I think pics of him as well. Got him to sign my Whiskey Before Breakfast CD (used to have the LP in another life)!

If you enjoy British folk then I can give a strong recommendation to Bert Jansch's 1960s and 70s stuff, esp. Birthday Blues, Lucky Thirteen, Box of Love, and Moonshine. I have them all on vinyl but most of his albums are available on CD as imports.QuoteI saw Norman Blake a few years ago at a local folk festival - got some good video and I think pics of him as well. Amazing musician.--Jerome
That's the big boy himself wrestling you for the bubbly, innit?
