Not sure if I agree with all the comments, but it was still an interesting read.

I might have agreed that vinyl was better than digital BEFORE I got my computer to Empirical modded I2S Off Ramp/DAC, but I haven't played many LP's since getting my computer etc... all set up.

I agree... I've hardly played a record on my Clearaudio table since I switched to my RWA-modded iPod. The sound with the ipod is maybe still not quite as "natural" sounding as vinyl, but it's close enough that I no longer want to tolerate analog compromises of background noise and loss of frequency extension. It's somewhat depressing for me though because I only have about 200 cds and probably five times as many LPs.

Gary:
I'm sure you don't need all those LP's taking up room and gathering dust.  I'll take them off your hands :D
I was listening to  Haydn yesterday that I just happen to have on vinyl and also have the ripped CD on my HDD.  We did an informal (no DB test)comparison for fun.  To mine and my lady's ears it was very close but analog still sounds better.  My source components are good enough to give a valid comparison, I think.  The inner detail and separation are close but timber and dynamics were better on vinyl, and that particular record doesn't have a flawless surface.
I'm keeping both sources because there is music that I can't find in one format or the other.   Just so I don't give the wrong impression, I think PC audio is a great step forward in digital playback.  I still see threads where guys are asking opinions about one box CDP's and I think-haven't they heard good PC based audio?

No, I'm a pack rat....

As mentioned, there are LP's that are not out on CD.

But if you want to make an offer for my vinyl front end and 800+ LP's I sure consider it  8)
