That price could mean an improved screen. By the way, do screens help contrast (i.e., a better screen has better contrast), or is it only the brightness of reflection?

Just wanted to let people know that Projector People (http://www.projectorpeople.com/hometheater/projdtls.asp?itemid=20229&sid=PCEB) has the Panny for $2k with free shipping. There is also a $400 cash rebate with Panasonic so your total cost for a very good pj is now $1,600!!

I have not purchased from Projector People before, but they have a pretty good reputation.

Dang it George! I'm getting my tax rebate soon, and now you post this. I'm supposed to be saving the tax rebate for wedding fees -- what to do? Wedding or projector? It's a hard call!

George beat me to the punch! Depending on your movie source, the Panny may be less expansive than the $1600 George mentioned, as some of the deals include $300 worth of Blockbuster movies too.

If one were to buy the Panny for $1600, how much would have to be spent on a good screen (80-90") to get the most out of it?

The wide range of screen prices is confusing to me. It does not help when the only local stereo shops around me both use Stewart screens that probably cost more than the Panny
