sotantar, thanks for the offer, but i'm in maryland - mite be a bit far for an audition!     so, you think they don't have as much punch as proac 2's, & audiojerry thinks they have more punch than proac 2.5's...  audio is great!

Since you seem to be discussing it so much, I thought I would let you know that I will be taking a new look at the network in the Criterion real soon.

Since I was able to cross the ribbon in the Diluceo at 2.5kHz without any problems I am going to do the same with the Criterion.

The Criterion is crossing the woofer and tweeter at 3.4kHz so a lot of that detail some of you are searching for is being covered by the woofer.

Comparing the two the Diluceo is really kicking its tail in that range. I think the drivers are blending better there too.

I was a little gun shy at first to let the ribbon in the Criterion play down too low because of the 85db sensitivity of that speaker I was concerned it would see some heavy power loads to get the high SPL's it may sometimes be called on to produce. Then again the tweeter is padded down pretty hard. For every 100 watt peak the speaker sees the tweeter only gets a 9 watt peak.

So I will pull it down and will see what it will do.

I believe I remember reading that the Druids can produce 113+ db spl.
Try playing the ProAc 2's or any ProAc at that level. Try playing them at anthing +100db with a Blue Man Group cd or some similar recording with heavy emphasis on drums.  Then try getting the blown up ProAc's  repaired under warranty...

Count me in.  I'm in LA and this is one of the few speakers I haven't heard.  It is in the same list price category ($5000) as the RM40 FST, so I would like to hear them.

Maybe when MD finds time, I'll pop in too.

And you are also welcome to come by and hear the RM40s TRTs (and I'll have some 626R FSTs in less than a week)

Doug S;  Well, when I think of punch, I usually refer to how hard the bass drum punches you in the chest.  The Response Two's driver brought out that characteristic quite well.  The 2.5 has that carbon fiber driver, it may have a different character.  The speakers look really cool as well.  I cant imagine you returning them after auditioning them, if you decide to.

John;  You could come by and check them out.  You don't have to wait for Mad Dog either.  Drop me a pm or email and we could set it up.  I know of a couple of people who have Trt'd Rm 40's in this area.  One of them is listening to them through the Ear digital amp.

One must have "girl music": Air Supply, the guy that dresses in pink and has flamingos in his record covers (I forgot his name--Christopher Cross?), etc.  Even if you don't like it, you must have a wide selection of "girl music"...

That's why I figured we can A/B the 626R's with the Druids and RM40's. That's probably as close as we can get it unless Sotantar wants to try and drag the Druids to your place. Even then, we still wouldn't be able to get a direct A/B .........A/B comparison with those big 'ol honkin RM40's

As far as getting together and listening.  I would rather NOT move the Druids because they are kind of long and the whole glossy paint thing.

It would be fine if you could bring your associated gear that you are familiar with and the 626's would be great as well, as they are relatively easy to move around.

I agree with you 100%, it should improve the speaker and let it compete better with the Diluceo. One of the keys to enjoying a speaker is to know its limits. Without having listened to either one, I tend to prefer the Criterion for listening nearfield in a small room with a small tube amp and a subwoofer, due to the series crossover and the all around better graphs. I will probably move soon and the Criterion is on my sights!

Hey, can I come too?  Would like to hear what somebody else's system sounds like, for grins.  Of course, I called up John a few months ago, about listening to his RM40's, and still have not made it over there.  Of course, my excuse now is I want to wait for the 626's to break in
