...I have never heard anything sound poor on them yet. If your ever in the Los Angeles area, you are welcome to check them out. Peace
sotantar, thanks for the offer, but i'm in maryland - mite be a bit far for an audition! so, you think they don't have as much punch as proac 2's, & audiojerry thinks they have more punch than proac 2.5's... audio is great!
Sotantar, I'm sorry I haven't had time to take you up on your offer! I am still very interested in hearing your Druids...just haven't had time! Thanks! MD
BTW, Sorry for dragging this thread away from the women and back to audio again. I just thought audio was the means to the end. I just feel that when we get our audio systems perfected, the women will be so impressed they will just flock to us. Isn't that what it's all about?
John; You could come by and check them out. You don't have to wait for Mad Dog either. Drop me a pm or email and we could set it up. I know of a couple of people who have Trt'd Rm 40's in this area. One of them is listening to them through the Ear digital amp.

One must have "girl music": Air Supply, the guy that dresses in pink and has flamingos in his record covers (I forgot his name--Christopher Cross?), etc. Even if you don't like it, you must have a wide selection of "girl music"...

Bah..forget the girly music. You gurly men can listen to that! You have to bring out the pimp music for the girls
"Sa-donoJohn...if you do take up Sotantar's offer and go before MD has time, how about waiting until the 626R's are broken-in so we can A/B them
If it ever comes about, I'd love to have you L.A. boys report your impressions of the Druid / RM40 comparison. They are such radically different approaches to speaker design.
I might get them as early as tomorrow Will keep you posted.

They are such radically different approaches to speaker design.I can pretty much guarantee that it will not be in the same room at the same time. At least the RM40s won't be leaving my place anytime soon unless someone want to buy them (they are for sale). How much do the Druids weigh anyhow? The RM40s are 240# each.We might be able to get away with the same CDP/Pre/AMP/ and software. Most likely it will be same cuts, but different rooms and systems.
Since I was able to cross the ribbon in the Diluceo at 2.5kHz without any problems I am going to do the same with the Criterion.I was a little gun shy at first to let the ribbon in the Criterion play down too low because of the 85db sensitivity of that speaker I was concerned it would see some heavy power loads to get the high SPL's it may sometimes be called on to produce. Then again the tweeter is padded down pretty hard. For every 100 watt peak the speaker sees the tweeter only gets a 9 watt peak.
Audiojerry; What I meant by the punch thing was, at "normal volumes", there is not as much punch in the Druid's as there is in the Proac's. The Druids have the same sound at any level basically. As far as getting together and listening. I would rather NOT move the Druids because they are kind of long and the whole glossy paint thing. It would be fine if you could bring your associated gear that you are familiar with and the 626's would be great as well, as they are relatively easy to move around.I live in the Park Labrea Complex, Fairfax district.
