In the Slim Server software, you have the option of setting the digital output to "fixed," or adjustable via the remote.

You have to disable it in Slimserver Player Settings/Audio.  There is a dropdown for Digital Volume Control, set it to Digital Output Level Is Fixed.

Sorry if I sound a little dense. Can you run the SB3 directly into a DAC and then into a power amp and use the volume control on the SB3 remote?

Wondering if I choose to run the SB3 directly into a DAC, does this mean I need a preamp with volume control.

Thanks Vinnie. I'm trying to decide between getting your analog mod and using the SB3's remote volume directly into a power amp vs. your digital mod + external dac and wondering if I will lose the SB3 remote volume with this approach.

Horizons:
Unless the Digital Volume Control is set to Fixed, it continues to operate.  In fact, even when set to Fixed, it will still display on the Player , but it won't change the volume.

i managed to set the digital volume ctrl to fixed.
is it possible to set the analog volume to fixed also?
or would that not make any sense?
